Serena Williams Beats Sharapova, Again!

Serena Williams is the best tennis player in the world. She proved that again today by beating the World's Highest Paid Female Athlete, Maria Sharapova.
Serena Williams
Williams successfully defended her title at the Madrid Open in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. The win was the 12th in a row for Williams over Sharapova, solidifies Williams' hold on the number one ranking (at 31, she is the oldest ever to be ranked that high) and was the 50th singles title of her career. Williams is the active leader in singles win in this catagory, and she is the only top player to even bother playing doubles.
Sharapova came into the Madrid final having won 25 straight matches on red clay and she hadn’t dropped a set coming into the final. The media is making a big deal about this win for Serena because its the first one she's had on red clay since 2002. The truth is Serena has won other tournaments on clay since then, including last year's Madrid Open, but it was played on blue clay. Williams is now the favorite to win the French Open next month. But despite her sucess, Williams does not have what it takes to beat Sharapova in the marketplace.
